Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar by his folk-inspired pop hits with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell new Mexico, but fell in love Colorado. The singer-songwriter eventually made his way to Aspen. Denver's state anthems have inspired people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated that John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first ever inductee. Many consider Denver to be the Colorado image. Certainly in my travels you encounter someone on the other side of the world one of New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the very first thing that comes they say is Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff wrote the track in the name of Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the song's potential when he first heard it. The track was released just several weeks after it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
